Mia Schoen has been teaching the SPLICE course for six years. She has an honours degree in Fine Arts from the Victorian College of the arts. Mia’s studio practice focuses on the subject of the natural world, currently she is working on a series that investigates unreal and impactful weather moments that portray a sense of weight and ominous beauty.

Mia’s work is held in public and private collections and she has been the recipient of a number of art prizes including the Wallara Travelling Scholarship and the Hume City Municipal Artwork Commission.

 

Mia is an active member of the Melbourne music community, playing and singing in a number of bands as well as her own solo act.  

 

Mia draws on a lifetime of experience in the arts and hopes to impart to her students a love of making and creating and for her students to develop and express their own personal voice and strength as artists in the world.
